I have been making art my entire life and sculpture specifically for over 30 years. My work has been in ceramic, stone and bronze. Since 1998 I have been working primarily in welded aluminum. I find it to be an exciting medium that is well suited to my current expressions in form.
My focus is on exploring the relationship between materials and form, while retaining my own feeling for balance and composition of sculptural elements. Experimentation with new materials and techniques is a vital part of the process of moving forward. Repetition of past success to establish a recognizable style serves only to stagnate new developement and inhibit meaningful expression. I believe my approach allows new work to represent a sequential growth from past work, not just another variant of theme. More importantly for me, it also allows for a sense of discovery and playfulness, which is central to my work.
